Degree programmes with course orientation process

General Information

There is a course orientation procedure for the Bachelor's programmes in:

  • Economics
  • Geographies of international Development, Focus on Africa
  • International Economics and Development

Detailed information on course orientation procedure can also be found on the websites of the respective courses.

  • If you already have an aptitude for one of the two courses of study certified by the University of Bayreuth and only want to enrol now, or you have already completed the course orientation procedure, you do not have to do it again. If you are currently enrolled at the University of Bayreuth in an economics course, you do not need to submit an application. In this case, please apply for a change of subject.  In all other cases, an application must be submitted in due form and on time, so that your data can be recorded in the system.  If you already have an admission or a proof of a completed course orientation procedure in a previous semester, please upload the received confirmed aptitude / proof of course orientation procedure, in addition to your university entrance qualification.  You will then receive an admission without having to participate in the course orientation procedure.

  • The application period for the winter semester 2022/23 is from 15 April 2022 to 15 July 2022.

  • Application may be conducted by a third party authorised in writing to do so.

  • Note for applicants who have a higher education entrance qualification from the United Kingdom or Ireland, and for applicants with an International Baccalaureate Diploma:  Please submit your application and submit evidence of a higher education entrance qualification via a tentative notice of grade equivalency provided by the Bavarian Office for the Recognition of Foreign Credentials no later than 15 July 2022.

  • Information for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses can be found here.

  • Applicants with professional qualifications: Applying for admission to programmes with an aptitude assessment process or programmes with limited admission is only possible once you have received your general higher education entrance approval, i.e. once your documents have been processed, etc. Sign up early for an advising session to ensure that your higher education entrance approval can be granted by the application deadline. Further information can be found here.

The dates of the SOV days will be announced. The arrangement will be done by the committee.

Type of application

The application for the study orientation procedure is conducted exclusively via CAMPUSonline (see below).

Application Process

The application is done via CAMPUSonline and takes about 15 minutes. Click on the link below to go to the CAMPUSonline main page.

Summary of the most important steps:
  • 1. Set up a user account. Students already enrolled at the University of Bayreuth use their CAMPUSonline student account to apply. Former students can continue to use their student account for 6 months after de-registration.  After this period the account will be deactivated. In this case, please create a new user account and forward the e-mail received via CAMPUSonline with the registration code as described. Important: Unfortunately, registration is not possible with the domain "Outlook", "live" and "hotmail". Please use a different e-mail address.
  • 2. Complete your application for the relevant programme of study.

  • 3. Upload your university entrance qualification.  You can do this during the application process or subsequently in the Self-Service section.
Please note: Deadline: The application must be received online by the University of Bayreuth by midnight on 15 July 2022. The higher education entrance qualification must also be uploaded by 15 July 2022, 24:00 hours.
The application can only be processed if the documents have been received by the University of Bayreuth in due time. If the permitted document sice is exceeded, you can send your application via the following platforms
http://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf   and https://en.pdf24.org/, which adjust pdf size.

  • 4. The Self-Service section of CAMPUSonline provides information on the status of your application. If anything is unclear, you will be contacted by e-mail. Please check your e-mails regularly during this time (including your spam folder).

  • 5. After correct receipt of the documents, you will receive an invitation to an interview from the chair.  Participation in this interview is a prerequisite for enrolment and therefore mandatory.

  • 6. After the interview you will receive a confirmation of participation.  This will register your admission in CAMPUSonline for the chosen degree programme.

If admission has been granted, you can apply for enrolment by accepting the study place offer on CAMPUSonline.  Once you accept your offer of admission, an application for enrolment will be generated automatically. Please print this out and mail it to the University of Bayreuth together with the required documents by 29 September 2022 at the latest.

  • You will find your application for enrolment in the Self-Service section of CAMPUSonline. Please print it out and send it with the required documents (see last page of the enrolment application) by post to the address printed on it by 29 September 2022 at the latest. Please make sure you submit all your documents in full! Please also note the information on proof of health insurance cover for students (see No. 1).
  • If all documents are submitted in full and on time, you will be enrolled at the University of Bayreuth. If there is a problem with your documents, it will be displayed in the "self-service" section. Please check there regularly.

  • Once you have enrolled successfully, you will receive an e-mail containing all the information for your student account (user name and PIN). You will then be able to print out a certificate of enrolment.

  • Your campus card will be sent to you by post.
  • All further information for your studies can be found on the information page for first-year students (please read through in detail in your own interest!).
If it is discovered that you were granted admission on the basis of false statements in your application, you will not be able to enrol.

From 15 April 2022 you can apply here.

Please do not enter an application until your university entrance qualification (average A-level grade etc.) has been officially confirmed.
